The Back to Basics Foundation Needs Your Help

.

Since 1997, the Back to Basics Foundation has been carrying Dr. Bob’s “keep it simple” message of recovery to the Twelve-Step community through the Back to Basics program.  To date more than 150,000 people have taken the Twelve Steps in the more than 1,200 Back to Basics Beginners’ Meetings and Groups that have started up throughout the world.  We are most grateful for this opportunity to be of service to the recovery community.

We are a 501 (C) (3), not-for-profit, corporation.  We have no paid employees.  Donations help us carry the message of the Twelve-Step pioneers to those who are still in need.

The following is a partial list of the projects the Back to Basics Foundation is working on

  1. Back to Basics Book-- Second Edition / Eight Printing--Run Number 2:   We will need money by October 1, 2006 to reprint the 2nd Edition / 8th Printing of the Back to Basics book.

  2. Back to Basics--German Translation: The Back to Basics book has been translated into German and is ready to be published and distributed within the German recovery community.  A portion of the books will be distributed, at no charge, to those who cannot afford to buy them.

  3.
  4. Back to Basics 101--An Introduction to the Twelve Steps: This is a 80-minute DVD of the Wally P. "chalk talk" on the Twelve Steps of recovery.  During this “meeting,” Wally takes a “newcomer” through all Twelve Steps as they were taken during the early days of Alcoholics Anonymous.  On May 7, 2005, we filmed a demonstration version of Back to Basics 101 at the Crossroads, Inc. treatment center in Phoenix, AZ.  We are ready to record, edit, produce and distribute this very powerful, life-changing presentation.

  5.
  6. Back to Basics for Correctional Facilities:  On October 27-28, 2003, we video-taped the Back to Basics program at the Henrico County Jail in Barhamsville, VA.  We used three mini-DVD cameras to record interviews with the warden, the director of mental health, officers and guards, male and female inmates who were in the Back to Basics program, and “alumni” of the program who returned to the prison on a regular basis to help the “newcomers.”  The Bask to Basics program has reduced the recidivism rate at this facility from 70% to 15%, saving the public millions of dollars per year.  We are ready to edit, produce and dis-tribute this DVD to correctional facilities throughout the U.S.

Mission Statement - Who We Are

The Back to Basics Foundation is dedicated to saving the lives of alcoholics by showing them the sheer simplicity of the "original" A.A. program and by leading them through the Twelve Steps as they were taken by the A.A. pioneers in the 1940's when the recovery rate from alcoholism was 50-75%.  We are seeing similar recovery rates today for those who are willing to remain involved in the Back to Basics Beginners' Meetings for three to six months.

We accomplish our objective by conducting one day and weekend seminars on the Back to Basics program and by distributing literature and audiotapes on the "original" A.A. way of life.
